Anglo American plc was accepted into membership of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights in January 2005 following a lengthy period of risk assessment and of preparation of materials for implementing the Principles at site level.

Anglo American joined the Global Compact in June 2004 and subscribes to the Compact's 10 Principles.
