Callide mine Human Resources Officer Rhonda Stubbins
Our vision is to be Australia’s leading metallurgical coal business.
We have a commitment to operational excellence, which means we aim to be the safest, best run, and most profitable business – not necessarily the biggest, but the best.
Our mission is to create value from coal responsibly. Underpinning this mission is a commitment to delivering sustainable returns to our shareholders by providing quality products to our customers, while operating in a way that that creates benefits for our people, communities, states, country and all stakeholders we engage with. In short, we aim to be the partner, investment and employer of choice.
Good neighbours
Our licence to operate is determined by us being good neighbours, and this is achieved by us working closely with governments and the local communities, as well as investing in local initiatives to provide long-term development. We strive to remain a socially responsible company, one that values neighbouring communities and identifies ways to contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of those communities. The variety of projects we support each year collectively illustrate the active role we play in giving back to the communities that host our operations.
Our six core values form the foundation for all our engagement with stakeholders:
- Safety
- Care and respect
- Collaboration
- Integrity
- Accountability
- Innovation
Together the principles these values represent guide the responsible way we interact with all our communities.
We consult proactively and regularly with stakeholders who fall within our radius of influence. We acknowledge that we have a direct and indirect impact on the people, businesses, land owners and governments located close to our operations. Regularly, we facilitate Community Liaison Forums with landholders, neighbours, local council and government representatives to discuss items of public interest relating to all of our mines’ operations. For example, since the early 1990s, Drayton mine has demonstrated its commitment to listening to the needs of the local community by establishing the Drayton Community Consultative Committee (CCC). This committee meets quarterly and consists of local councilors, local residents and members representing the broader community.
